Born many years ago, I am blessed to be a daughter, mother and grandmother. My daughter, Angie, and her husband, Andy, live in Loganville and I have four absolutely amazing grandchildren, Taylor, Madi, Olivia and Luke!
It took me a while to decide what I wanted to be when I grew up and I had several types of jobs before I decided to teach math, but that turned out to be the best decision I could have made. I taught in Richmond County at Spirit Creek Middle School for 2 years, Butler High School for 16 years, then came to Effingham County to teach at ECHS and to be closer to my Mom. I retired from ECHS in June 2016. (Mom passed away in 2019.)
In 2009, I purchased my home in Rincon and really love living here. There is something unique about this area – we have a couple of small towns, a bigger town, and a really big town all within about 20 minutes of home. To me that’s special. The close proximity allows me to immerse myself in small town life checking out the thrift and antique shops, etc., but if I really need a Best Buy there’s one in Savannah.
Retirement seems like a time to relax and sit at home, but I was afraid I’d get bored if I did that, so I started working here at BLC in October 2016. I am blessed to be the office person here at Bible Lutheran. Having grown up in the church, I always enjoyed reading the bulletin and even now when I visit churches, I always read the bulletin from start to finish. I had no idea, however, the amount of effort and time that when into creating the finished product. It’s a creative process that I really do enjoy. Also, there is such a variety of tasks that I work on here – I never know what is in store each day when I enter the office, but one thing is for certain – I’m gonna have fun!
Outside of work I enjoy cooking, quilting, painting, traveling, watching competition TV shows, and visiting with my family.
